Most of the songs on Time & Place were fairly non-topical bu this song was an exception. I can remember we all felt quite strongly about the war in the middle-east back in 2002. This is our attempt at a protest song, and is unique in that everyone in the band was involved in writing the lyrics. The other things that stick out about this song, is that it was a) our first tune in waltz timing, b) a bastard to record (for me anyway, I can’t remember exactly how many vocal takes I did, many!) and c) Mik did a nice job of scoring the string section (I think he stayed up all night working out the cello parts, whilst teaching himself how to play the cello at the same time!).
