Although Indigo was conceived pre-Kinematic, Gordo did a total re-write of the lyrics and, with a new guitar riff and key change, it doesn’t resemble the original idea much. Gordo and I discovered that we both liked Alfred Hitchcock movies, and this song is about sitting in a local cinema watching Hitchcock's Vertigo (based on the book D'entre les morts). The pretty string section in the middle eight was scored by our friend Jhana and performed by Jhana, Jippa and Mik.
lyrics
Lie awake, play back the scene again, colour grain
Push me now, if you think that you can, be afraid
I walked out all indigo, never stop the scene
And you seem to, while you mean to, will you still believe in all you say
And to nearly, see it clearly, have to sit through all of it again
Push me down, just like d'entre les morte, vertigo
Cinema, I know the space to find, some escape
I walked out all indigo, never stop the scene
And you seem to, while you mean to, will you still believe in all you say
And to nearly, see it clearly, have to sit through all of it again
And it's hard to leave, it's so hard
And it's hard to leave, it's so hard
But I'm leaving, yes, I'm leaving before it's begun
I walked out all indigo, never stop the scene
And you seem to, while you mean to, will you still believe in all you say
And to nearly, see it clearly, have to sit through all of it again
